I LOVE wikipedia

Is it just me or is wikipedia the greatest thing ever? I regularly donate to keep them going because if there was no wikipedia…I don’t know WHAT I would do.

For example, their peignoir article cleared up some confusion:

“A peignoir is a long outer garment for women usually sheer and made of chiffon. Peignoirs are usually sold with matching nightgown, negligee or panties but are often worn with no underwear. Also described as a garment worn when brushing the hair, from French peigner, to comb the hair, from Latin pectināre, from pecten, pectin-, comb. This depicts a dressing gown or robe.”

And they even have Miss Elaine - one of the most coveted names in vintage lingerie :)

Miss Elaine is an American manufacturer and retailer of quality women's nightwear. The company is famous for its extremely soft and sheer nightgown nylon fabric known as Silk Essence. The family owned company, now in its third generation, was founded in 1926. They are headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. The company's products are available in department and specialty stores with limited on-line availability. However, the company has just opened its first website which linked to an on-line store.

Although I've learned ALOT about lingerie the last 6 months, I never even heard of a "naughty and nice" before?

A Naughty & Nice is a matching 3 piece ensemble consisting of panties, babydoll (short nightgown) and peignoir (long nightgown). It is made of diaphanous chiffon with shoulder puffs, ruffles, bows, lace, ribbons, etc. The peignoir may or may not have shoulder puffs.
